AV Aanval 08 (rapata remix) [ookoi]

about

[English]
In the early 1980's, during the Oerol festival on the Dutch wadden island Terschelling, armed with cameras, the duo Henk Groenendijk and Peter Mertens (then known for their "audiovisual wallpaper" slide projections at the now defunct Amsterdam Shaffy Theatre), froze time in the moments that dune pollen, sandhills, and branch trees were thrown around and shattered, thus documenting these "audiovisual attacks". The taking of each and every picture was accompanied by an inevitable shout that echoed through the dune scapes.
Remarkably, the technical challenge of operating electric generators on the beach became apparent, as the 2,000-watt Kodak Slide Carousels competed with the energy demand of the neighbouring ice-cream fridge. In this unexpected clash between technology and nature, the latter triumphed, showcasing the inherent unpredictability of art in the face of environmental forces.
Now, for the first time, this series of av acts and actions can be audibly re-experienced in Studio's AV Attack 08 remix.
